Garden of Eden Pole Bean
RARE. (Pole; snap/shell; Romano-type). (65 days) One of my favourite beans of all time! Considered by many to be unrivalled for taste, this beautiful old family heirloom almost disappeared from the market a few years ago. We have spent the past few years building up our seed crop and are pleased to be able to offer it again. The 8' long vines produce a bountiful crop of long, flat pods that grow to 6" and are a medium green colour. The pods are so tender and sweet they can be eaten raw (which is what Dan does all the time) and are best cooked for only 3-5 minutes. They retain their tenderness even when over-mature, which is highly unusual for a bean and a much-valued trait. The original beans came from a family in New Jersey, who received a handful of seeds from a neighbour who had brought them over from Spain or Portugal.
